Our Mission
SafeStops Australia is a youth-led organisation dedicated to improving the safety and respectfulness of public bus stops across the country. We advocate for better awareness, school-based education, and changes to how students and commuters behave when waiting, boarding, and exiting buses.
Why Safe Bus Stops Matter
Bus stops are used daily by millions of Australians, but many are overlooked when it comes to safety and respect. Issues like crowding, pushing, unsafe waiting areas, and lack of adult supervision can lead to accidents, anxiety, and even injuries.
When passengers feel unsafe or disrespected, it affects their whole day. Our goal is to help build a culture where bus stops are calm, well-organised, and inclusive places — especially for young students who rely on them every day.
Our Inspiration
"I've watched students push and shove their way onto the bus, not even letting people off first. It's dangerous, it's rude, and it needs to stop. I really hope the principal sees this and takes action."
This shocking observation, made by a respected teacher at our local school, inspired the creation of SafeStops Australia. It started with a simple question: “Why aren’t we doing something about this?”
